More and more nowadays people are learning that Hypnotherapy can help them with psychological and emotional issues that cannot be resolved in other therapy fields.
Hypnotherapy is a relaxed state that is induced by the Hypnotherapist and brings the Client to deep rest(similar to just before you fall asleep) During this deep rest the Hypnotherapist will access the sub-conscious of the Client and bring about changes by using a variety of tools and techniques. In fact it must be stressed that it is the Client's subconcious that makes the relevent changes and not the Hypnotherapist. As a hypnotised subject you will always feel in control of what is happening and be able to curtail any session or suggestion that you did not like -and in fact tell porkies if you did not wish to give certain information. Some people worry that they will get 'stuck'in a trance. This cannot possibly happen. In many years I have never had someone not come out of the relaxed trance state, but should you remain in trance(after self-hypnosis for example)you would simply go to sleep and wake up as normal.
Hypnotherapy is very different from what you may have seen on the stage as an entertainment. You will be made to feel comfortable and usually you have a one to one session with your therapist. Should you wish to have a friend with you this is possible on request.
Most people can be put into hypnotic trance but the quality of this varies. Generally the more intelligent a person the better they go into trance. Also they benefit greatly from the process of the therapy. There are many different ways of inducing a trance and its very rare for someone not to respond to trance induction with a skilled therapist. I believe deep trance is very important for treatment and spend a lot of time inducing trance and making sure my client gets the maximum benefit from the treatment session.
People who are unsuitable for Hypnotherapy are epileptics, active psychotic illness and active suicidal states. Also if you have a lost memory syndrome and been advised not to access this,- avoidance of hypnotherapy is a good idea.
Client confidentiality is important and whatever you tell in the session is totally confidential. Confidence would only be broken if it was felt you were a serious risk to yourself or someone else.
